Top Telecom Provider Makes Strong Financing Connections

From the beginning of expanded telephone services and the
advent of networked computing, few companies have offered their clients
more experience in the fast-evolving area of computer-telephone integration
than ADS Telecom. Throughout the southern United States, they’ve
provided single-point-of-contact telecommunications service since 1983.
And to keep pace with such rapid sector growth, ADS Telecom called on GCR
Capital for their financing needs.
“I get hit everyday with financing people,” says Jim D’Ambrosio,
a senior sales executive at ADS Telecom and an industry veteran. “Money
is money, but the thing that makes GCR Capital different is whenever there’s
a problem, they take care of it. They really handle our paperwork and our
problems in a prompt way, which gets me paid quicker.”

something million,” says Jim.

quickly. And that’s what’s important to me,” he says.
“We sell high capital expenditure,” explains Jim. “Our
phone systems are pretty high-dollar volume, okay? We find that a way to
differentiate ourselves is to put the financing
package in place. Whenever we need something a little out of the ordinary
like 90 days no-payment, no payments down, seasonal payments that some
customers like because their business is seasonal, GCR Capital has always

more deals.”

to fair market value buyouts, each with their own tax implications for
the customer. “That’s important. We’ve got to address
that,” says Jim. “Is it a 100 percent expendable item? A capital
expenditure? There’re a lot of rules and regulations that make something

Though financing for all these telephone products and services can sound
complex, watching the bottom line is simple. “Really, GCR Capital
just gives you good service,” Jim says. “Again, money’s

One of the best parts of ADS Telecom’s relationship with GCR Capital,
says Jim, is the opportunity for pre-funding in some cases. “I like
pre-funding. It keeps my cash flow rolling. It means that we’ve had
arrangements to get paid prior to us doing the work, within about a 30-day
window.”
If ADS Telecom knows the installation of a system is going to be, for
example, next week, on some deals they can get pre-funded, says Jim. “I
get just about my whole dollar amount a week earlier. This helps cash flow.
I don’t have to wait for my money.”
And this makes Jim very happy. “They’re just great people
to work with and that’s really what makes all the difference. Again,
it’s not rocket science. All the rates are basically the same. It’s
just, who are we going to deal with that’s going to make our lives
easier and who’s going to help me make more deals? That’s what
it all boils down to, and GCR Capital does that.”
But what do they actually do to make that difference? “They return
phone calls. Let’s start with that!” Jim says, laughing hard. “I’ve
had guys you’ve got to chase them down to give them business. Don’t
have to worry about that here. They follow up, they’re prompt, they
do what they say they’re going to do. You can’t argue with
that.”
